St. Marys Franciscan Shelter for Homeless Families
Two families of interest to our readers have stayed with us. One was a single mom taking the steps to gain independence after a bad relationship. What was remarkable about her (Ill call her Madonna) was her devotion to her children.
If you could imagine yourself homeless and leaving an abusive situation, the added responsibility of the welfare of three children would weigh heavily on you. Madonna knew her children. Two of the three had special needs, educationally speaking. They were doing well in schools in West Chester so, for their sake, she acted. She contacted the school district and arranged for transportation so that they could stay in the schools where they were succeeding. This was possible for two of the three children. Madonna herself drove the third child to and from school daily, a considerable distance from Phoenixville. They maintained passing grades and they owe a debt of thanks to their mother for her help in insuring their education.
The other family I want to highlight is unique and a St. Marys Franciscan Shelter first. Ill call them the Boggs Family, Mable and her son Frank. Mable is a senior citizen counting her years well into her seventies. Frank is in his forties and is on disability. Mable is proving to all of us that a mothers devotion to her son is undying. She cared for him all his life and though they have been homeless for ten years she refuses to separate from him. Our Case Manager is working with them to secure a place in public housing. If they are successful, Frank will have a place to stay when Mable is no longer with him. This is another cause to include in your prayers, a Yes for the Boggs family from the folks at public housing. Next Case Study
